What Should I Wear?

FAQ's Studio Policies

FOR CLASS:
For Men-dress pants or nice slacks, a button down shirt or a golf shirt, a tie is optional.
For Ladies-skirts and dresses with room for movement or nice dress slacks, a blouse or top that also allows for movement.

Shoes-to start classes, a leather bottom dress shoe is acceptable and will help you slide and turn, which a rubber sole will not allow. If you are enjoying the dancing, you should invest in Ballroom Shoes. (see information below)

What NOT to Wear:

Clothing-Jeans, Shorts or Sweatclothes
Shoes-Heavy Boots, Tennis Shoes, or any rubber soles, Sandals or Flip Flops
Hats-No Hats

FOR DANCES & SOCIALS: Dinner Party Attire

What would you wear if you were going out on a date or to a friends for a dinner party? It is time to pull out that outfit that you bought for that unexpected special occasion, that is too dressy for work. Isn't it nice to see everyone dressed up?

FOR BALLS, SHOWCASES & COMPETITIONS: The invitation will indicate.

Gentlemen-Black Tie is always acceptable for the more formal events. Tails are ususually for those will be performing, but completely acceptable. A Suit or Suit Jacket is expected during dinner.
Ladies-Cocktail Length or Full Length Gowns. Take in consideration that your dress allows you to have movement and the length is off the floor enough to keep your partner from stepping on your dress.

Ballroom Shoes: These shoes are made specifically for dancing. The soles are suede which allow you to slide but not slip on the floor. The leather upper is supple to allow you to bend at the ball of the foot which most dress shoes, especially gentlemen's dress shoes, do not allow. Both the mens' and ladies' shoes have a steel shank for support to properly adjust your weight over your heels and through the arch. When you purchase these shoes you should never allow them to get wet or wear them outside. There is usually a bag included with a purchase so that you can change your shoes once you arrive at your dance destination.

Registration

How do we register for group classes & when do we pay, before the series of classes?

For the adult group you have two way to RSVP your space.

  1. Use the website to pay by credit card.  You will receive a email confirmation for your payment & then another from Two Left Feet to confirm the class you are enrolled in.
  2.  You can email an RSVP for a space and pay on the first day of class by personal check or cash

The class session must be paid for in its entirety when you register for the session.

Sampler vs. Beginner

What is the difference between the Sampler Class & Beginner Class?

Sampler Class - The first 6 classes of the beginner session is "The Sampler" where you will learn the basics of 3 dances. The sampler is designed to give you a basic feel for the type of dance & to see if you would like to continue to learn that style of dance.  You will be taught the fundamentals or the first 3 to 5 steps of the dance. You will get an idea what the dance feels like & what type of music is played to for that style of dance.   Once you decide you can continue on with group classes, take private lessons or try another sampler for the other type of dances.

Beginner Class - As you continue on to the next 6 lessons of the beginner level, we will help you smooth out those fundamental basic steps & teach more fun spins & turns.  At the end of 12 lessons you should feel more confident dancing at a public event, understand how to dance to the beat of the music & be at the beginning of comfortable leading & following your partner.  At the end of this session you can continue to a Beginner II/III level, take private lessons or take a beginner level in a different discipline of dance.  You will notice that you are starting to learn quicker & can pick up new steps much more rapidly.

Missing a Group Class

What happens if one of us (or the both of us) have to miss a group class?  Can we make it up?

We understand people get sick, get stuck in a meeting which makes them stuck in traffic or you have a trip.  We allow beginners who are in their first 12 group classes a couple of options so you don't feel like you have been left behind.

1. You can either save the credit for the class you missed & tack it on to the end & use it for the first class or 2 of the next Beginner series of classes.

    • (Any missed group credits are good for 2 weeks following the end of your session.)
2. You can exchange the missed group for a half hour private lesson.
    • (Only two 1/2 lessons allowed per session.  The private lessons can only be exchanged & used before the session is complete, otherwise it remains a group credit.)

If you both miss a class, you will not lose the credit.
If one of you comes to class - the credit is considered used.

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges :

It is at our discression how to handle a request for a return, refund or exchange.

Any request must be in writing, either by mail or email.

You may be offered an exchange of credit to use on another type of class. If a refund is granted, a $25 processing fee will be added to the remaining credit on your account.  Cancelations less than 24 hours before a class is scheduled, private or group, you will be charged as if you have taken that class.
