"To me, social dancing means fun and fitness for life. For more
than a decade, I competed in Latin and ballroom dancing, and I thrived on the challenge. Over time
I developed different priorities, and now I’m focused on sharing the joy of dancing with others. That’s
the great thing about dancing. There are so many ways to participate, you can enjoy
it at every stage of your life. What’s more, it is a great way to stay in shape. I love all the dances, but I have a special place in my heart for swing. Because
it is characterized by playfulness, swing gives me a platform to really show my personality. I just can’t
help myself—I always find myself laughing by the end of a swing. I understand the apprehension that can come with learning something new, so I encourage beginners
to stop worrying and just have fun. Good technique counts, but the real beauty of dancing
comes from the connection you make with your partner and the personal expression each person adds to the dance. Just relax
and let yourself enjoy the experience. You will be a dancer before you know it."
